Happy New Year to all of you! Ball Seed is excited for the many new plant offerings you will have to tantalize and delight your landscape customers starting in Spring 2020. (It's only 10 weeks away officially!)

One of our biggest intros for 2020 is the new Beacon® Impatiens series. Garden Impatiens are B-A-C-K, baby! PanAmerican Seed has worked for literally the last decade to bring you a series of garden impatiens that have high resistance to Impatiens downy mildew. Remember that? The "bubonic plague" of garden impatiens?

Why is this so important? Need I remind you that much of the American landscape is shade. Garden impatiens were once the dominant colorful plant for shade, thus the tag line for Beacon: "Grows Stronger, Shines longer."

Our hope is that you will be able to bring your clients something "new" for their shade gardens. And restore their confidence in this shade design staple.

The other knock-out shade item we have ramped up production on is 'Canary Wings' Begonia (pictured below). A "clone" of our rock-steady Dragon Wing® Begonia but for 65% shade with chartreuse-colored leaves and grown from cuttings, it is  fantastic for large shade containers. Once your clients see it they will want it every year.

For sunny locations we have a couple of great new additions for geraniums and petunias.

Our new Galaxy™ Geraniums are "out of this world!" (Sorry, too easy…) Galaxy, like Beacon, is a plant breeding breakthrough. Galaxy is an interspecific green-leaf geranium. It combines the habit of a trailing type with the vigor and flower power of a zonal type. The result is a lot of flowers on a nicely mounded plant habit great for baskets, large containers and high impact landscapes. Galaxy White is the only interspecific geranium of this type.

It's hard to beat petunias for sunny beds and borders. The new ColorRush™ vegetative petunia series added a White for 2020 that has been fantastic in every university trial and public garden we have sent it to. (See it on the far-right in the photo below from CSU.)

ColorRush has a total of 7 colors, three of which are brand new, including White, Watermelon and Purple. The ColorRush Pink (pictured above in our greenhouses) is quickly becoming a mainstay for truly trailing bubble-gum-pink baskets and containers.

Stay tuned for more exciting decade-busting plant additions from your Ball Seed catalog!
